What is this tool?
This tool erases a solid (single-color) background and turns it into a transparent PNG. It detects the background color automatically, or you can pick it yourself with the eyedropper, and then makes pixels close to that color transparent. You can adjust the tolerance and the edge softness (feathering), and choose between erasing only the area connected to the background or erasing every pixel of the same color. Images are never uploaded to a server — everything is processed inside your own browser.
How to use it
1. Upload Image
Upload an image with a solid background in PNG, JPEG, or WebP format.
2. Select Background Color
Click Auto-Detect to sample from image corners, or use the color picker to manually select.
3. Adjust Tolerance
Move the slider to control how similar colors are removed. Lower = precise, Higher = forgiving.
4. Choose Feathering
Set edge smoothness from 0–20 pixels. Higher values create a softer anti-alias effect.
5. Pick Removal Mode
Choose between Flood-Fill (connected areas only) or All Matching (every matching pixel).
6. Download Result
Download as transparent PNG or copy directly to clipboard.
When to use it
Great for tidying a white-background product photo to drop onto a store page or document, making a logo or a scanned stamp or signature on a solid background transparent, or clearing a solid area out of a screenshot. For photos with busy backgrounds or person cutouts, color alone can't separate the subject, so an AI-based background remover works better.
Tips and gotchas
If auto-detect doesn't catch the background exactly, sample the background color yourself with the eyedropper. If a colored fringe is left behind, raise the tolerance a little; if the subject starts disappearing, lower it. When edges look hard, a feathering of about 2–5 pixels makes them look natural. Any areas that were already transparent in the original are preserved.
